How to set up Mail on your Apple Ipad 3 and IPhone

Follow these simple steps to setup mail on your IPad 3 and IPhone. It will only take a few minutes.

TECH DETAILS
POP3
Incoming Mail Server: mail.youdomain.com.au
Port 110
Authentication: Password
SSL Off.

SMTP
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.youdomain.com.au
Port 25
Authentication None
SSL Off.

STEP 1.
Setting up mail for the first time
If this is the first account you’re setting up on the iPad or IPhone tap the Mail icon on the home screen.

Then Tap Other

and select Add Mail Account

OR ALTERNATIVELY

Add a new mail account
If you want to add a new mail account, tap the Settings Icon on the home screen

Then Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars (1) and select Add Mail Account (2)

STEP 2.
Enter your Name, email address (eg: john@yourdomain.com.au), the password for that email address and a description for the account. You can use the email address as the description.

Then tap the Next Button in the top left of the screen.

STEP 3.
Select the POP tab at the top of the page.
Some information will already be there. Check that its correct.
The Address will be the new accounts email address and the password will be the new email accounts pass sword.

In the 2 HOST NAME areas, type   mail.yourdomain.com.au (replace the "yourdomain.com.au" part with your actual domain name). This is your mail server name. Its the same name for both incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers.
NOTE: The Outgoing Mail Server does not require a user name or password, so you can leave this blank if you like.

Then tap SAVE. You IPad or IPhone will now connect to your mail server and verify the settings you have entered. This may take a few minutes.

STEP 4.
You will most likely encounter an error when verifying the details with your mail server.

A message will be appear asking you to try setting the account up without SSL. This error occurs because your IPad is verifying using SSL and this feature is turned on by default in your IPad and IPhone.

Tap Yes to verify with SSL turned off.

FINISHED
You should have now successfully added the new email account.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problems occur because the settings have either not been entered correctly - usually the password, the SSL is still turned on, or the Port numbers need to changed.

If you get this message.
Tap Details

Otherwise go back to the IPads or IPhones home screen and tap the Settings Icon

Then Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select the mail account you want to fix.

Then check the the details are correct. For the Outgoing Server, they should be as below. A common error occurs because the Server Port no is wrong. It needs to be 25 and make sure Use SSL is Off.
